Putting Our Residents First

We’ve updated our "Norms of Behavior" to make sure we’re serving you better. If a neighbor or business owner reaches out to a Councilmember from a different district, we’ve committed to keeping that district’s representative in the loop so no concern falls through the cracks.

Our Top Priorities (Tier I)

We have a "no-fail" list of goals that we are determined to cross off this year:

• Welcoming New Leadership: We are dedicated to supporting our new City Manager to ensure they hit the ground running.
• Boosting Our Economy: We’re launching a major Economic Development Strategic Plan. This includes looking into a special improvement district for downtown, creating a local economic advisory group, and building a stronger "brand" for Concord to attract new businesses.
• Investing in Our Streets: We’re continuing to hunt for ways to fill the $25 million annual gap in our infrastructure funding to keep our roads and facilities in great shape.
• The Naval Weapons Station: We are making "significant progress" on negotiations with the Navy and our Master Developer to move this historic project forward.
• Housing for All: We’re moving forward with over a dozen major housing policies to ensure we stay in compliance with state mandates and provide homes for our growing community.

Looking Toward the Future

We aren't just thinking about today; we’re dreaming big for tomorrow. We’ve formed a special committee to look into the feasibility of a brand-new library. We’re also asking our Housing & Economic Development Committee to dive deep into two very important questions: how we can get a "Pro-Housing" designation for the city and, most importantly, how we can get more affordable senior housing built right here in Concord.

Getting the Work Done

Behind the scenes, our teams are busy with a massive work plan, including:

• Smarter Traffic: Installing safety cameras at 90 intersections and modernizing our signal systems to help you get through town more safely.
• Beautification: Planting 500 new trees and launching a new litter abatement program to keep Concord beautiful.
• Modern Tech: Upgrading our internal software and even exploring how AI can help our staff serve you more efficiently.

There is much good work ahead this year, and I am very grateful to our hard-working City staff who make all these improvements happen.
